Marriage

“Here we are before You in our guilt” (Ezra 9:15)

Following Israel’s 70-year exile in Babylon and the building of the Second Temple; Ezra, the priest made an historic address to the assemblage of Jews in Jerusalem.  In his address he warned the Jewish people to stop marrying the pagans who also inhabited the land.  In the eyes of God, their marriages to these pagans were sin.  He had no respect for their sinful practices, nor would he acknowledge these marriages.  Ezra admonished the Israelites to purify themselves and turn back to the teachings of the Torah.  It became the day God judged the marriages of the Israelites.  It is the only place in the bible where God does not respect marriage.  This event took place on the 20th day of the Hebrew month of Kislev, 347 BCE.

Fast forward to 2022 AD.  On a designated day, President Joe Biden held a celebration on the White House lawn.  The purpose was to sign a law entitled the “Respect for Marriage Act.”  This was a law that struck down the “Defense of Marriage Act” that had been passed in 1996.  For the first time in American history, this Respect for Marriage Act enshrined the ending of the Biblical definition of marriage and incorporated same sex marriage into federal law.

President Biden held a celebration of the event replete with special guest music performers, as well as thousands of LGBTQ activists who covered the White House lawn, which was lit up with the colors of the rainbow.  It was a repeat of what his former boss, Barrack Obama had done in 2015.  It was now official that this act would compel all people and organizations to respect marriages which according to the Word of God constitute sin and its enshrinement.

However, President Biden and his followers had no idea what that day in 2022 was really about.  To them, it was another day to celebrate.  December 13, 2022.  Twelve days before Christmas.  Nineteen days before the New Year.  Party time!

To God that day was not a day about marriages or celebrations, but a day about the union of sin, and the day America made it a federal law.  But that day also held another significance to God.  You see, on the Hebrew calendar a day begins at sundown, and ends at sundown the following day.  And at sundown on December 13, 2022, the date became the 20th day of the Hebrew month of Kislev, 2022 AD.  The anniversary of Ezra’s warning to Israel about their sinful marriages.  Exactly 2,368 years to the day.  When God is pushed out of a society, evil practices that went around once will come around again.
