America and the End Times

“Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.”

Matthew 12:25

The End Times, a hot topic in our chaotic world.  At this present time there are ten major wars going on around the world.  People, even unbelievers are very interested in bible prophecy and the end of this world, as we know it.  One of the most frequently asked questions is – is America actually mentioned in the biblical teachings of the End Times?  I have spent forty-three years teaching the Bible, and though I have found an active role in the Tribulation and End Times from nations such as China, Russia, Libya, and Iraq to name a few, I have not found that America will play an active role in the End Times or the Tribulation.

First, we must realize that America is NOT the center of the world.  Israel is.  In God’s perspective, everything centers around that 8,019 square mile land mass that he placed his chosen people in.  So this week I would like to throw out my reasons why I do not believe America is going to play a role in the end times:

  1. Destruction from inside and outside our national boundaries.  We could be devastated by war.  We should be well aware following 9/11 that we are an open target to enemy nations and organizations that are terrorists who have the nuclear capabilities that could wipe us off the face of the earth.  We are not the most popular nation in the world, and that’s alright.  If we do not kill ourselves off  with our drug addictions, hatred, rage and murders over race, political affiliations, and greed; another nation may step up to the plate and do it for us.
  2. We may decline as a world power.  Proverbs 14:34 reads, “Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people.”  As our country becomes more and more secular; pushing God out of our schools, homes, even our churches; we may lose God’s protection.  We have condoned and legislated so much sin over that past several years, righteousness has been lost in the process.  Our freedom of religion has become freedom from religion.
  3. We may have a great revival in America that will turn our nation to God.  If that were to take place, the majority of people would depart in the Rapture.  This of course is the best scenario, and the one every believer in Christ should like to see happen.  But as believers, we have a great responsibility to pray for this revival.  I encourage you to join me in praying for a Holy Spirit awakening to sweep across our nation.

Believers in Christ right now have a great opportunity to show America what Christ’s love and forgiveness truly look like.  If we spent as much time praying for revival as we do slinging mud and pointing the finger at one another, we may find the reason we are not in the bible during the End times is because the majority of Americans are in heaven.
