“Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)
His name was Friedrich Nietzsche. He was the son of a Lutheran pastor. Friedrich wrote a book called “Antichrist.” In his book he called Christianity the one great curse, the one enormous, innermost perversion, the moral blemish of mankind. He said, “I regard Christianity as the most seductive lie that ever existed. I condemn it.” Probably some of the most hateful words directed toward Christ and the cross that have ever been printed on paper.
His propaganda influenced an Austrian man named Adolf Hitler. Hitler read all 30 books written by Nietzsche. Each filled with hatred and animosity. Sadly, Adolf was fascinated with all of them. He became a disciple of Nietzsche, whose poisonous philosophy became what directed his life as a foreshadow of the Antichrist to come. The result was the Third Reich, the Second World War, the Holocaust, and the death of millions of Jews.
We need to understand that behind the world history we study, behind the news we watch and listen to, there are spiritual implications. Things that are both good and bad. Things that impact this world. Listen to lies and deceit and your morals change. Satisfy your curiosity with theoretical conspiracies and your sense of reality becomes distorted. Read about the life of D.L. Moody and you get a passion for lost souls. Read the writings of Jonathan Cahn and you become excited about the return of Christ. Listen to the passionate preaching of doctrinally sound pastors, and you become spiritually challenged. Delve into God’s word under the teachings of genuine biblical instructors, and your hunger for God’s word increases.
There are a lot of things, a lot of people out there who want to fill our minds with information that can damage us. I had a former pastor who used to say, “what you allow in moderation today, you will practice in excess tomorrow.” What a profound powerful truth! What we put into our minds, what we embrace with our hearts, is going to affect our life and the things we do both now and in the future. What we do in the spiritual realm, what we believe and what we receive makes a difference. Adolf Hitler is proof of that. Truly Nietzsche’s book was an Antichrist book. Be careful who you allow to put their thoughts into your mind. Only Jesus Christ holds all truth!
